Absence makes the heart grow fonder – 2 years of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery in New York City

Synopsis

The topic of my Grand Round will be my experience as an Instructor in Congenital Cardiac Surgery in the Children’s Hospital of New York / Columbia University. I will cover the differences between the American and the Australian medical systems, the strengths and weaknesses of the relative programmes and the lessons I have learned that impact on my practice since returning to Melbourne.

Speaker

Dr Edward Buratto is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon who has been working as a paediatric cardiac surgeon at The Royal Children’s Hospital since he returned 6 months ago, and as an adult congenital cardiac surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
