Close Encounters of the ID Kind: Alien Life Forms and Other Infectious Diseases

 

 

Synopsis:

Join us for this ‘traditional’ Grand Round that will showcase the fascinating and diverse world of infectious diseases. In a series of short case presentations, discover how the Infectious Diseases team battles with viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa and alien life forms.

 

Speakers:

Professor Nigel Curtis is a Paediatric Infectious Diseases physician and clinician scientist. He is Professor of Paediatric Infectious Diseases at The University of Melbourne, Head of Infectious Diseases at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, and leads the Infectious Diseases Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.

Associate Professor Gabrielle Haeusler is a Paediatric Infectious Diseases physician at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Associate Professor in The Sir Peter MacCallum Department of Oncology and a Team Leader in the Clinical Infections Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.

Dr Josh Osowicki is a Paediatric Infectious Diseases physician at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and a clinician scientist who leads the Vaccine Challenges team in the Tropical Diseases Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.

Associate Professor Penelope Bryant is a Paediatric Infectious Diseases physician and clinician scientist. She is a consultant in the Infectious Diseases team and Medical Lead of Hospital-in-the-Home at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Associate Professor in the University Department of Paediatrics and leads the Clinical Infections Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.
