“EMR – one year on”

Synopsis

On April 30th the RCH Electronic Medical Record will have been in use for 12 months. It has been one of the biggest practice changes in the hospital’s history.

In this session we will discuss some questions, including:

  • what exactly did we do?
  • what were some of the things that went well?
  • what were some of the more challenging aspects?
  • what do the users feel about it?
  • how is the patient and family portal going?
  • what was that HIMSS thing all about?
  • are we getting clinical and operational benefits from using the EMR?
  • how do we meet the huge demand to get data out of the system?
  • what is coming in the Epic 2017 upgrade in July?
  • where to from here? – upwards and onwards, or back to paper!?

Speakers

John Stanway is the RCH Acting CEO and was the Executive Sponsor for the EMR project.

Professor Mike South is a paediatrician and the RCH Chief Medical Information Officer. He will be presenting on behalf of the EMR team.
