The garden at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) experienced a dash of racing fervour on Monday 2 October.<\/p>\n

Former cancer patients in racing silks with the 2006 BMW Caulfield Cup helped launch the sale of BMW Caulfield Cup lapel pins.<\/p>\n

Last year’s Caulfield Cup winner Greg Childs was also be there to encourage people to buy a memento of the 2006 carnival and raise money towards music programs at the hospital.<\/p>\n

Hush Music for Sick Kids Auxiliary is selling the commemorative pins, with all proceeds going to the RCH.<\/p>\n

Auxiliary members will be selling pins before the carnival at the Chiva-Som Fashion Luncheon and during the Caulfield Spring Racing Carnival, with prizes drawn on 3 November. Prizes include a $7500 BMW bicycle, two annual subscriptions to The Age and Robbie Williams concert tickets.<\/p>\n

Auxiliary member Shannon Anastasio said selling the pins was a fantastic fundraising opportunity.<\/p>\n

“This is a great way of combining an exciting Melbourne event like the Spring Racing Carnival with fundraising for such a wonderful cause as the RCH,” Mrs Anastasio said.<\/p>\n

“The Melbourne Racing Club and sponsors have really gotten behind the initiative, it’s always great when different facets of the community work together for such a worthwhile cause.”<\/p>\n
