The evening was also live-streamed to 66 sites across Victoria and Tasmania, reaching around 2,500 health professionals in total, all the way from Albury to Launceston.

Attendees took to Twitter with the hashtag #RCHTrauma2017 to share their experience.

“We were blown away by the amount of people who supported and participated in our Educational Trauma evening this year, not only at the RCH but by those who live-streamed the session from across Victoria and Tasmania. It is one of the largest educational events in the paediatric trauma calendar, so we’re very proud it was such a success!” Said Warwick Teague, Director of the RCH Trauma Service.

The event addressed challenges in managing and transporting severely injured children from remote environments, and the team shared their cutting-edge techniques. Additionally, RCH clinicians addressed the complexities of emergency, surgical and rehabilitation care for children following trauma.

As in previous years, the crowd was moved by a brave presentation from the parents of a severely injured child. The family described their journey from their child’s accident to ongoing recovery, and included a short video message from the patient.

The 2017 event was a collaboration between the RCH Trauma Service and Air Ambulance Victoria. As the event continues to grow each year, it allows the RCH to be at the forefront of trauma education and care.

It was a packed house at the RCH, with around 500 health professionals from across Victoria attending the annual event.

[8971,6

post-6046","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-featured","category-in-the-news
["GET
