At 15 months old, Hayden had a stroke caused by a heart condition. He’s now 16 and taking on the world, representing Australia in the Cerebral Palsy Games (below)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\"Hayden<\/a>A disease like\u00a0stroke doesn’t discriminate – it can affect\u00a0people of all ages, including newborn babies and children.<\/p>\n

The Stroke Foundation is launching Brain Injury Awareness Week nationally, and in doing so are hosting an interactive discussion shining a light on stroke in young people. The discussion follows\u00a0RCH Neurologist Dr Mark MacKay recently winning a national stroke award<\/a> for his outstanding dedication and commitment to young stroke patients.<\/p>\n

A panel of young survivors, carers and industry experts will look at why stroke happens, the impacts on young people and what can be done to stop this devastating disease.<\/p>\n

Families who have been affected by stroke are encouraged to attend. Details are as follows.<\/p>\n
