\"AHEAD_facebook_image\"<\/a>The RCH is looking for kids to participate in an exciting research project that examines the size and head shape of children and the changes that occur during childhood.<\/p>\n

The Australian Head shapes Examination and Analysis Database (AHEAD) research project, led by Professor Tony Penington, involves collecting 3D photographs of children\u2019s heads.<\/p>\n

Researchers are hoping to examine around 1,900 images, with the aim of establishing what a \u2018normal\u2019 child\u2019s head size and shape looks like throughout childhood.<\/p>\n

The information gathered from this project will be the first of its kind in the world, and will help the RCH to improve treatment of those children with differences of appearance.<\/p>\n

We would like to invite children who do not have a medical condition that affects their growth or bones to be involved by allowing our medical photographer to take a 3D photograph of their head. We especially want children under five years of age.<\/p>\n

The image system uses 18 specialised cameras, takes less than a second, and is not harmful in any way. Each participant will receive a copy of the 3D photograph on a CD.<\/p>\n

All we need is 15 minutes on the day for you to read and complete the Parent\/Guardian Information Statement and Consent Form before we capture the photograph.<\/p>\n
