{"id":5198,"date":"2015-12-02T07:09:35","date_gmt":"2015-12-01T20:09:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/?p=5198"},"modified":"2016-01-14T16:55:25","modified_gmt":"2016-01-14T05:55:25","slug":"australian-child-health-poll-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/australian-child-health-poll-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"First Australian Child Health Poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/files\/2015\/12\/Top-ten-child-health-problems.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-5209 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/files\/2015\/12\/Top-ten-child-health-problems-323x280.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"323\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/files\/2015\/12\/Top-ten-child-health-problems-323x280.jpg 323w, https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/files\/2015\/12\/Top-ten-child-health-problems-646x560.jpg 646w, https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/files\/2015\/12\/Top-ten-child-health-problems.jpg 1772w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 323px) 100vw, 323px\" \/><\/a>In December 2015,\u00a0the RCH launched the first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.childhealthpoll.org.au\/\">Australian Child Health Poll<\/a>; which reveals the top ten child health problems as reported by the Australian public.<\/p>\n<p>The key findings of the national survey show that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Almost 60 per cent of Australians say excessive screen time is a big health problem for Australian children and young people.<\/li>\n<li>Parents rate obesity more highly as a big problem for children in the community than for their own children.<\/li>\n<li>One in ten parents rate dental issues as a big problem for their own children.<\/li>\n<li>The top ten perceived health problems relate to modern lifestyle, mental health concerns and child safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The RCH Australian Child Health Poll will be conducted quarterly to deliver timely, relevant new knowledge about the health, wellbeing and lived experience of children and young people in contemporary Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Each poll will focus on a different topic or theme.
