If you&#8217;re coming in to the hospital for an appointment or your an inpatient, here are some activities we&#8217;d love you to join:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday 17 &#8211; Friday 21 March:\u00a0Portrait of a Hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A collaborative project between the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Footscrayarts\">Footscray Community Arts Centre<\/a>\u00a0(FCAC) and the ARCH arts program at the RCH.<\/p>\n<p>Two artists from FCAC will run creative portraiture workshops for patients and siblings, who will have the opportunity to produce their own self portrait with the assistance of professional artists!<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to celebrate the diversity of all our patients, uniting children and young people through creativity, encouraging respect and understanding. The sessions will run in Specalist Clinics between 10am-12pm and 1-3pm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday 17 &#8211; Monday 31 March: RCH World Map<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A large world map will appear on the windows near the green lifts on the ground floor. Patients, families and staff are invited to place a sticker onto their country of origin at any time throughout the day until the end of March.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday 18 &#8211; Thursday 20 March: Main Street Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The RCH Education Institute will be hosting some great activities in Main Street from 11am-1pm, these include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 15px\"><span style=\"line-height: 15px\">Wish Tree:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>What do you wish for yourself, for your loved\u00a0ones, for the world? RCH patients, families and staff are\u00a0invited to write a wish for the world on a tag and place it on\u00a0the Wish Tree \u2013 designed and created by RCH patients.<\/li>\n<li>Kids&#8217; Messages of Hope:\u00a0Children and young people will be\u00a0photographed with their own messages of hope for their\u00a0family or the world. Photographs will be collated for an\u00a0interactive slide show with accompanying music that can be\u00a0viewed on Harmony Day on Main Street (Friday 21 March).<\/li>\n<li>Mosaic art and monograph art activity:\u00a0Children and\u00a0young people will create mosaics and monograph drawings\u00a0that reflect their own identity and family heritage using\u00a0coloured paper, tiles and ink.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Thursday 20 March: MOU Launch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Signing of the\u00a0memorandum of\u00a0understanding (MOU)\u00a0between the RCH and\u00a0AMES in Main Street at 12.30pm.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This historic MOU, almost 12 months in the planning, will\u00a0help promote cultural awareness at the RCH and\u00a0support delivery of cross cultural support to patients\u00a0and families from diverse backgrounds. An RCH work\u00a0placement program for recently arrived refugees, and an\u00a0initiative to bring volunteers from new migrant\u00a0communities into our volunteer workforce, have already\u00a0begun under this partnership.<\/p>\n<p>AMES is Australia\u2019s biggest\u00a0provider of humanitarian settlement, education, training\u00a0and employment services for refugees and newly arrived\u00a0migrants, and has been operating in Victoria for 60\u00a0years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 21 March: Harmony Day<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Throughout the week children and young people will be\u00a0photographed with their own messages of hope for their\u00a0family or the world.
