{"id":3556,"date":"2013-11-01T02:12:33","date_gmt":"2013-10-31T15:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/?p=3556"},"modified":"2015-04-29T12:09:08","modified_gmt":"2015-04-29T02:09:08","slug":"meet-the-illustrator-who-created-the-rch-wayfinding-artwork","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/meet-the-illustrator-who-created-the-rch-wayfinding-artwork\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet the illustrator who created the RCH wayfinding artwork"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jane Reiseger is an Australian artist\u00a0who once dreamed of\u00a0painting on the walls and ceiling of a children&#8217;s hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The new Royal Children&#8217;s Hospital (RCH) made her dream a reality &#8211; her breathtaking artwork of Australian\u00a0flora and fauna adorns every level of the hospital and helps patients, families, visitors and staff find their way around\u00a0the complex building.<\/p>\n<p>Jane&#8217;s RCH artwork recently won her the impressive 2013 Association of Illustrators (AOI)\u00a0Illustration Award in the Public Realm category.<\/p>\n<p>The judges commended Jane, commissioned by\u00a0design agency Buro North, for creating wayfinding artwork that delights in both form and function.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a really enlightened, ambitious and inspirational project. It was a courageous and very successful decision to work with one illustrator throughout the building. The illustration is excellent and has been applied with real design skill to enliven the whole building and improve its functionality.
