{"id":2579,"date":"2013-03-12T02:30:34","date_gmt":"2013-03-11T15:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/inthenews\/?p=2579"},"modified":"2015-04-29T13:42:25","modified_gmt":"2015-04-29T03:42:25","slug":"jibreel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/jibreel\/","title":{"rendered":"A new start for Jibby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/2013\/03\/12\/jibreel\/untitled-10\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2581\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2581\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/files\/2013\/03\/untitled1-210x160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>This week three-year old Jibreel left The Royal Children&#8217;s Hospital (RCH) for the first time since being flown down from Brisbane with end-stage severe heart failure.<\/p>\n<p>Jibby was\u00a0diagnosed\u00a0with a rare genetic disease called cardiomyopathy after his parents tragically lost his older brother to a similar condition.<\/p>\n<p>In the early stages Jibby underwent implantation of the Berlin artificial heart, to maintain his condition until a donor heart became available. Jibby called the Berlin heart his &#8216;robo heart&#8217;.
