Photo courtesy of Fraser Marsden.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>You can now take a virtual\u00a0walking tour of The Royal Children&#8217;s Hospital (RCH) and other iconic Melbourne buildings with the launch of the <em>Sound of Buildings<\/em> Vol 2 iPhone application.<\/p>\n<p>The application, which includes interviews with\u00a0haematologist\u00a0and Chairman, RCH medical staff association Dr Chris Barnes, RCH patient Illario Franco and Bates Smart Director Kristen Whittle, walks you through the engaging elements of the new RCH building and what it means to staff, patients and families.<\/p>\n<p>In his audio interview for the application, Dr Chris Barnes says the new RCH has a far greater sense of air and natural light. &#8221;You can see in the kids and the families when they come in, they&#8217;re all looking around and it&#8217;s really a pleasant place to be.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Sound of Buildings\u00a0<\/em>application, which is free and available now in the Apple iTunes store, also takes you behind the walls of the\u00a0State Library of Victoria,\u00a0Hamer Hall,\u00a0Old Treasury Building and the\u00a0Shrine of Remembrance,\u00a0among\u00a0others.<\/p>\n<p>Open House Melbourne ambassador and host of the popular television show <em>Grand Designs Australia<\/em>, Peter Maddison said the app was part of Melbourne\u2019s love affair with great buildings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <em>Sound of Buildings<\/em> is a celebration of Melbourne\u2019s unique architecture and built heritage.
