{"id":10808,"date":"2026-08-19T15:00:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T05:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/?p=10808"},"modified":"2026-08-19T15:46:35","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T05:46:35","slug":"medical-staff-temporarily-stop-work-thursday-20-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/news\/medical-staff-temporarily-stop-work-thursday-20-august\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical staff temporarily stop work \u2013 Thursday 20 August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some doctors from The Royal Children&#8217;s Hospital will participate in protected industrial action \u2013 meaning they will temporarily stop work \u2013 on Thursday 20 August 2026, from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm.<\/p>\n<p>This may disrupt appointments and planned surgeries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you have an appointment with Specialist Clinics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will do our best to see all patients and let you know as soon as possible if there are any changes.<\/p>\n<p>You may:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience longer wait times<\/li>\n<li>Be seen by a different doctor than usual<\/li>\n<li>Have your appointment cancelled or changed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you would like to reschedule, please call Specialist Clinics on 9345 6180 between 8:30am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of those hours, you can cancel or reschedule your appointment online via the Specialist Clinics change of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rch.org.au\/specialist-clinics\/appointments\/Specialists_clinics_change_of_appointment_form\/\">appointment form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you have surgery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some planned surgeries on Thursday afternoon may not proceed.<\/p>\n<p>Patients and families with the potential to be impacted will be contacted by text message.<\/p>\n<p>For questions about a surgery or to reschedule, please contact the RCH Planned Surgery Unit on <strong>9345 4559<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some doctors from The Royal Children&#8217;s Hospital will participate in protected industrial action \u2013 meaning they will temporarily stop work \u2013 on Thursday 20 August 2026, from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
