By the time he was five, it became clear that he would need a kidney transplant. But despite numerous family members stepping forward to offer their kidneys, none were a match.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a difficult journey with an unknown timeline,\u201d says James\u2019 mum, Anna. \u201cWe are so grateful to everyone who offered to be tested.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until a family friend put their hand up that everything changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen our donor offered, we were over the moon,\u201d says Anna. \u201cTheir generosity allowed James to have his transplant at just the right time, and he avoided dialysis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The transplant surgery was a success, and James is now living a much healthier life. \u201cBefore the transplant, I felt very sick. I couldn\u2019t eat or do anything.
