Exploring the acceptability of words and language used in routine discussions with adult primary caregivers of children with a life-limiting condition.
The primary investigator for this study is Dr Nick Mills.
Nick is in the final year of dual training in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Palliative Care and has a research interest in how clinicians can communicate better with families, especially parents of children with chronic illnesses.
Nick is currently undertaking a research project in recognition of how important it is to understand the parents perspective and what it is like for them when discussing the care of their child with their clinicians.
Listening to parents’ perspectives on what language and concepts are comforting or maybe should be avoided, and this will hopefully improve care and develop a deeper understanding of the parents experience.
If you are interested in participating in this study and would like to know more, or if you would like your details passed on to Dr Nick, please contact our clinical nurse consultant, Ingrid Sutherland.
