Staff news

The staff of Neurodevelopment & Disability have had a busy year caring for children and young people with neurodisability and supporting their families.

Our team of expert clinicians has been lead by Gordon Baikie whose thoughtful leadership and clear decision making has ensured we can provide best care to children and young people living with disability.  We hosted a very successful Reddihough Symposium in August on New Frontiers in Neurodisability.

We wished two of our paediatricians, Monica Cooper and Suzi Riess, well as they commenced parental leave to care for new additions to their own families.  Sarah Loveday has joined us to fill the void left by Monica and Suzi.

We also said a fond farewell to two of our clinical nurse consultants, Sacha Petersen and Jenny O’Neill.  We wish them well for the next chapter of their careers and thank them for many years of service to our department.

A number of our staff received long service recognition awards at the recent RCH Staff Awards:  Judy Wells (35 years), Carmen Akaoui (30 years) and Caroline Pobega (20 years).  We congratulate and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our patients and families a safe and happy Christmas and we will see you all in the New Year.
