Webinar for parents: Intrathecal Baclofen. Who is it for? What does it do

Presenter:  Ms Sacha Petersen, Clinical Nurse Consultant- Intrathecal Baclofen


This webinar will briefly introduce intrathecal baclofen therapy. Topics to be discussed will include: how the pump works, what life with a pump looks like, the benefits and risks of ITB therapy and special considerations will be presented.  The session will conclude with a question and answer session.  You can email questions in advance to education.seminars@rch.org.au


Sacha Petersen has worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital since 2001.  Sacha is an advanced practice nurse who provides clinical care and education to children with ITB pumps and their families.  She has worked in this role since 2006 and has extensive experience in the selection process and clinical management of ITB therapy. Sacha is also a PhD candidate at The University of Melbourne.  Her research is exploring sleep problems for children with cerebral palsy.
