Recognition of seizures in the NICU has changed in recent years\u00a0with the introduction of bedside EEG tools. Increased recognition has raised the sceptre of whether all subclinical seizures need treatment with\u00a0anticonvulsants. Pharmacotherapy for neonatal seizures has sadly not kept pace with some of the investigational advancements. The Newborn Electrographic Seizure Trial aimed to determine whether treatment\u00a0of all electrographic seizures with standard anticonvulsant therapies improved\u00a0neurodevelopmental outcome. It was completed early in 2019 and results, with ongoing challenges, will be presented.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"GrandRoundssubheading\">\n<p class=\"GrandRoundssubheading\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 13.0pt\">Speaker<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"GrandRoundbodycopy\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Professor Rod Hunt<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\"> is the Director of\u00a0Neonatal Medicine at RCH and is co-lead for\u00a0the Neonatal Research Group.
