Recent advances in trauma management,\u00a0surgical techniques, and\u00a0rehabilitation interventions aim to preserve spinal function and optimise long term outcomes. During this Grand Round, a range of speakers will present on\u00a0the latest advances\u00a0in spinal trauma management and rehabilitation. The Victorian Spinal Service will also update the newly developed transition pathway and the latest research in spinal cord injury.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speakers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr Warwick Teague<\/strong> is a Paediatric Surgeon with a specialist interest in Trauma and Director of Trauma Services, RCH<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr Michael B Johnson<\/strong> is a Paediatric Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon and Head of Department, Orthopaedics, RCH. Michael\u2019s sub speciality interest is in the management of spinal conditions including trauma and Scoliosis.\u00a0He will focus on the surgical management of skeletal injuries in the context of spinal cord injury.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A\/Prof Adam Scheinberg<\/strong> is the Statewide Medical Director of the VPRS and a paediatric rehabilitation specialist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms Abby Thevarajah and Ms Joannah Butchart<\/strong> are Senior Physiotherapists, Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service RCH.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms Catherine Papaioannou<\/strong> is a final year medical student at University of Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms Erin Garner<\/strong> is Senior Occupational Therapist and\u00a0Manager of the Spinal Outreach Service, Austin Health.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Andrew Nunn<\/strong> is Director of the Statewide Spinal Service based at Austin Health.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although traumatic spinal cord injury in children is uncommon, effects are lifelong, and almost all aspects of daily function are affected.
