{"id":493,"date":"2022-01-10T00:51:38","date_gmt":"2022-01-10T00:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/?p=493"},"modified":"2022-01-17T06:32:11","modified_gmt":"2022-01-17T06:32:11","slug":"updated-cpg-nitrous-oxide-oxygen-mix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/updated-cpg-nitrous-oxide-oxygen-mix\/","title":{"rendered":"Updated CPG: Nitrous oxide \u2013 oxygen mix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/guideline_index\/Nitrous_Oxide_Oxygen_Mix\/\">Nitrous oxide \u2013 oxygen mix<\/a> CPG has been updated and reviewed by the CPG committee.<\/p>\n<p>This CPG forms part of a suite of CPGs relating to sedation, other new topics are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/guideline_index\/Procedural_sedation\/\">Procedural sedation<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/guideline_index\/Ketamine_use_for_procedural_sedation\/\">Ketamine use for procedural sedation<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The Key points for the CPG are<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Nitrous oxide provides amnesia, anxiolysis and modest analgesia with minimal respiratory and cardiovascular compromise<\/li>\n<li>Nitrous is safe to commence at a concentration of 70%.
