{"id":324,"date":"2021-03-10T02:23:42","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T02:23:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/?p=324"},"modified":"2021-03-10T02:23:42","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T02:23:42","slug":"new-cpg-vomiting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/new-cpg-vomiting\/","title":{"rendered":"New CPG: Vomiting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/guideline_index\/Vomiting\/\">vomiting<\/a> CPG is a new CPG focusing on assessment and differential diagnoses and forms part of suite of hydration CPGs covering IV fluids, dehydration, vomiting and gastroenteritis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The Key points for the CPG are<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Bilious (dark green) vomiting is due to a gastrointestinal obstruction until proven otherwise, and requires urgent surgical referral<\/li>\n<li>In a vomiting child without diarrhoea, consider causes other than gastroenteritis<\/li>\n<li>Intracranial causes eg non-accidental injury (NAI), should always be considered<\/li>\n<li>Ondansetron can be used for symptomatic relief, however cessation of vomiting does not exclude a serious cause<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vomiting is a new CPG and was endorsed by PIC on 18 February 2021.
