{"id":309,"date":"2021-03-10T02:16:06","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T02:16:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/?p=309"},"modified":"2021-03-10T02:16:06","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T02:16:06","slug":"updated-cpg-jaundice-in-early-infancy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/updated-cpg-jaundice-in-early-infancy\/","title":{"rendered":"Updated CPG: Jaundice in early infancy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rch.org.au\/clinicalguide\/guideline_index\/Jaundice_in_early_infancy\/\">Jaundice in early infancy<\/a> CPG has been updated by the CPG Committee.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The Key points for the CPG are<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>If significant jaundice is clinically suspected, a serum bilirubin level should be performed as visual estimation of jaundice is unreliable<\/li>\n<li>The majority of jaundice in well infants is physiological, and does not require investigation and management<\/li>\n<li>Features suggestive of pathological jaundice include: onset &lt;24 hours old, unwell baby, elevated conjugated bilirubin component, prolonged jaundice, pale stool.\u00a0 These require prompt investigation and management<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jaundice in early infancy was an existing RCH CPG and was endorsed by PIC on 26 November 2020.
