{"id":3685,"date":"2020-04-06T14:03:07","date_gmt":"2020-04-06T04:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/ccch\/?p=3685"},"modified":"2020-12-08T09:48:57","modified_gmt":"2020-12-07T22:48:57","slug":"classroom-promotion-of-oral-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/ccch\/2020\/04\/06\/classroom-promotion-of-oral-language\/","title":{"rendered":"CPOL research snapshot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>An MCRI led study improved teachers short-to-medium term knowledge of oral language using a whole-of-classroom professional learning program.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Strong communication and language skills enable children to learn and lay a foundation for mental health, behaviour and life opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>In the early years of schooling, oral language competence is particularly important because it underpins the emergence and ongoing development of reading, and broader literacy skills.
