In some communities this extends to one in two \u2013 or every second child \u2013 placing them at greater risk of poorer social, emotional and economic wellbeing throughout their lives.<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rch.org.au\/ccch\/policybrief\">Policy Brief<\/a> outlines a different approach for addressing the complex nature of childhood vulnerability in communities experiencing high levels of disadvantage \u2013 a <strong>place-based collective impact<\/strong> approach.<\/p>\n<p>Place-based collective impact integrates the knowledge and lessons gained from Australia\u2019s long history of place-based approaches with the strengths of collective impact.<\/p>\n<p>Its focus on citizen engagement, and devolved, cooperative decision-making represents a fundamental shift in the distribution of power and authority away from government and service providers.<\/p>\n<p>This edition explores:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Australian practice and research on\u00a0place-based collective impact initiatives <\/strong>including the seven principles which determine their effectiveness.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The implications of the research<\/strong> including the need for testing and adaptation\u00a0as our understanding of the place-based collective impact\u00a0approach evolves.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Considerations for policy and practice<\/strong> including the potential benefits for government, communities and service providers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rch.org.au\/ccch\/policybrief\">Read the full edition<\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>About this edition<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This Policy Brief is based on Place-Based Collective Impact Principles: A Public Policy Response to Childhood Vulnerability (in press) prepared by <a href=\"https:\/\/opportunitychild.com.au\/\">Opportunity Child<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/logantogether.org.au\/\">Logan Together<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre for Community Child Health is a national partner of Opportunity Child.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>About the Policy Brief series<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Centre for Community Child Health Policy Brief series aims to stimulate informed discussion about issues that affect children\u2019s health, development and wellbeing.
