{"id":1372,"date":"2020-05-21T17:11:33","date_gmt":"2020-05-21T07:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/?p=1372"},"modified":"2022-09-04T14:40:53","modified_gmt":"2022-09-04T04:40:53","slug":"dr-margaret-garson-ao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/dr-margaret-garson-ao\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Margaret Garson AO"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Dr Olga Margaret Barnett (nee Garson) AO<\/h3>\n<h3>4\/10\/27 \u2013 17\/5\/20<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Widow of Dr John Barnett and mother of Dr Peter Barnett<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Children\u2019s Hospital Alumni mourn the death of Margaret, a valued member and the widow of another former member, plastic surgeon, Dr John Barnett.<\/p>\n<p>Margaret graduated from Melbourne University medical school in 1951 and trained in Haematology and Pathology.\u00a0\u00a0In the mid 1960s she founded the first cytogenetics laboratory in Melbourne.
