{"id":1220,"date":"2019-11-14T09:52:29","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T22:52:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/?p=1220"},"modified":"2022-09-04T14:41:28","modified_gmt":"2022-09-04T04:41:28","slug":"gala-dinner-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/gala-dinner-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Gala Dinner 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Once again the dinner was held at Kew Golf Club, following the AGM of the Medical Alumni Association, on Tuesday November 12th.\u00a0There were 66 members\u00a0and partners present and four guests, who were welcomed by the President of The Alumni, Ms Ruth Wraith OAM.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1246 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/files\/2019\/11\/Kevin-Collins-and-Kathryn-North.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"319\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/files\/2019\/11\/Kevin-Collins-and-Kathryn-North.jpg 642w, https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/files\/2019\/11\/Kevin-Collins-and-Kathryn-North-295x300.jpg 295w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 319px) 100vw, 319px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">An excellent dinner was followed by a stimulating presentation\u00a0by Prof Kathryn North AC MD FRACP,\u00a0David Danks Professor of Child Health Research and Director of the Murdoch Children&#8217;s Research Institute, who was introduced by Dr Kevin Collins. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Her title was: <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;The Brave New World of Precision Medicine&#8221; <\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">and she focussed on developments in Genetics and the<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1226 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/files\/2019\/11\/Kathryn-North-speaking.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/files\/2019\/11\/Kathryn-North-speaking.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.rch.org.au\/alumni\/files\/2019\/11\/Kathryn-North-speaking-300x227.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0expanding field of Genomics and its potential for a huge impact on the management of genetic disorders.
