Planning for school

Students with health conditions that could impact on their attendance and participation at school need planned support to ensure they remain engaged and connected to their learning.

Planning enables teachers, and schools, to understand the specific health needs of their students and adequately anticipate and manage appropriate day-to-day support.

Student Health Support Plans help children and young people to feel safe and supported at school. The plan also enables schools to best fulfill their responsibility to the student by supporting and responding to their health needs.

In addition to the Student Health Support Plan, it is recommended that schools also utilise Individual Learning Plans, to accommodate different learning profiles, rates of learning and individual learning needs.
